About the event
"Everything was a blur in my head" is a photography exhibition by Lithuanian filmmaker and artist Monika Navickaitė. Featuring Monika’s contemporary photographs, shot on expired Soviet film, alongside her father’s archival images from Soviet Lithuania, the exhibition aims to create an intergenerational dialogue across time.
Through this juxtaposition, the exhibition explores the personal and political dimensions of memory, identity, and authoritarianism. Symbols and remnants of the past, Soviet-era architecture, monuments, and traces of everyday life, are overlaid with contemporary urban landscapes and political markers, reflecting how history persists, transforms, and collides with the present. In this act of remembering, Monika positions memory as a form of reflection, resistance, and inquiry, showing how the echoes of the past can help to inform a way forward.
The exhibition is free to visit, but the opening night event with the artist’s presentation is ticketed.
